Fashion Insider | Catherine Kallon

Founder, Red Carpet Fashion Awards

If you’ve ever wanted to know which designer a celebrity is wearing on the red carpet, look no further than Catherine’s fabulously stylish website, fueled by her amazing knowledge of the latest designer collections. Little wonder it's one of the fashion world's most popular commentaries, loved by stars, stylists and designers worldwide!

How would you describe your personal style?
It differs. I can be a slave to fashion one minute, wearing a Balmain inspired Zara blazer with bold shoulders, to being totally individual wearing 50s style vintage dresses.

What do you wear for work?
Anything that feels right. That Topshop dress I bought last week may have looked great when I tried it on, but if I'm not in the mood to wear a dress, leggings, boots and a long top may work. I have dress up and dress down days like most people. I just go with the flow!

What’s the best part of your job?
Finally gaining the respect from the fashion industry and looking at beautiful clothes all day.

Who is your style icon?
Cate Blanchett. No one has her style and grace. She's like a swan that just glides down the red carpet.

If you could style one celebrity, who would it be & why?
Cate Blanchett, for all the reasons above plus she gets to wear custom-made Armani Prive gowns.

What is the one item in your wardrobe you couldn’t live without?
My Chanel quilted bag. I wanted one for so long and saved until I could afford it. It's my baby and when I'm not using it, it stays in its box.

What’s your top fashion tip?
Pick one trend from the runway, don't try to embrace them all otherwise you will look like a fashion victim.

Who is your favourite designer?
I have 3! Elie Saab, Georgina Chapman of Marchesa and Donatella Versace. They all make magical red carpet gowns.

What’s the worst fashion mistake you’ve ever made?
Dungarees! I always cringe when they come back into fashion.

What beauty products are currently in your bathroom cabinet?
I keep it simple with Nivea.

How do you balance work and home life?
It's hard because most of the US events I cover are happening when it's very late in London. I have slowly started to give myself an 8pm computer curfew.

Where's you favourite holiday destination?
Thailand

What's been your favourite film this year?
Michael Jackson's This Is It. What a waste of a special talent. That concert would have put him firmly back on the map were he always belongs.
